Addendum to version 6.33a
INSTALLATION:
Copy all of the files to a directory on your hard drive.
To extract the documentation type F6DOCS after you have
copied the files from the distribution diskette. To print
the documentation type COPY FLAG6.DOC PRN from your DOS
prompt.
ERRATA:
------------------------- 6.33a
Version 6.33a has files with the following time/date stamps:
[ FLAG6.EXE 03-13-91 12:54a]
[ FLAG6.OVL 03-13-91 12:54a]
In the Option Section, in the selection browse box, if you do not like the
way an option description is phrased you can press [CTRL-ENTER] to edit it
and change it to something more meaningful to you.
Fixed a problem with the Quick check. The percentage duplicated was not
being reset to 0 so after the first exact duplicate was encountered all
remaining records would appear to be exact duplicates. (I apologize)
In Field Selection when a field is de-selected the check start and check
length will be replaced with 0s. If you re-select the field your original
values will still be there. This is an esthetic effect, so the screen does
not appear confusing due to the values remaining even when the field was not
selected for checking.
All deleted records are ignored during a check. If you are checking a file
with deleted records FLAG may appear to "jump" to completion when it appears
to have only checked a portion of the file. This is due to the fact that it
is not feasible to count the number of deleted records ahead of time and
adjust the counts accordingly. The in/exclusion of deleted records will
become a toggled option in the next release (6.34).
If you use the [SPACE BAR] to toggle the display during a check FLAG will
automatically redisplay the stat screen at the end of the check regardless.
The redisplay will not occur until FLAG is doing its last check in the file.
Increased the check speed a fraction by eliminating some of the record to
record jumping FLAG was doing during the actual processing. (minor but
noticable on larger files)
------------------------- 6.33
FLAG no longer displays deleted records if the Original record was selected
for deletion during Stop-n-Ask marking verification.
During the check process pressing the [SPACE BAR] will toggle the display.
When the display is off only the name of the file being checked and a
numerical percentage complete will be displayed on line 24 of the screen. If
you toggle the display on and off a few times during a check you will notice
that the check will tend to go much faster when the display is off. The only
drawback being that there is no statistics screen to view at the end of the
check. I will change this in the next release.
A new option has been added to allow the skipping of FLAG creating an index
for use during the check. If the file you intend to check is already
pre-sorted in the order in which you will be checking it turning this option
on will instruct FLAG to by-pass the index and check the file in its natural
order. If you are using a fast DBMS you may wish to SORT you file on the
fields to be checked prior to the check. In some cases SORTing in your DBMS
may be faster than FLAG's indexing schema.
